Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Natural
Resources, Subcommittee on Agriculture was held on Monday, May
12, 1997 in the Lt. Governor's Committee Room, at Austin,
Texas.

The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:00 pm. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted.
The Chair laid out HB 1052 and recognized the Senate sponsor,
Senator Ogden, to explain the bill.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on
the attached list.
Senator Ogden moved that HB 1052 be reported favorably to the
full Committee with the recommendation that it do be reported
favorable to the full Senate. The motion carried with a
record vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1
absent.
The Chair laid out HB 2807 and recognized Buddy Garcia
(Legislative Aide to Senator Lucio), in the absence of the
Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on
the attached list.
The Chair moved that HB 2807 be left pending to await a
quorum; without objection it was so ordered.
The Chair laid out HB 1823 and recognized Senator Ogden, in
the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.

The Chair moved that HB 1823 be left pending to await a
quorum; without objection it was so ordered.
At 3:25 pm Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand
recessed until 5:00 pm. Without objection, it was so ordered.
The Chair called the meeting back to order at 5:00 pm.
The Chair again laid out HB 1823. Senator Lucio moved HB 1823
be reported back to the full Committee with the recommendation
that it be reported favorable to the full Senate. The motion
carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not
voting, and 1 absent.
The chair again laid out HB 2807. Senator Lucio moved that HB
2807 be reported favorably to the full Committee with the
recommendation that it do be reported favorable to the full
Senate. The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 0
nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.
There being no further business, at 5:10 pm Senator Lucio
moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of
the Chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
