Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.11, a public hearing of the Long-Term Care Legislative
Oversight Committee Subcommittee on a Survey Regarding Nursing
Facilities was held on Monday, March 30, 1998, in 2E.20 of the
Texas State Capitol at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 1:07 p.m. There
being a quorum present, the following business was transacted.
The chair laid out the February 26, 1998, minutes and called
for revisions. Ms. Karrh and Dr. Kramer proposed two
revisions. The chair made a motion to approve the minutes
with revisions. There being no objection, the motion prevailed
by unanimous consent.
The chair announced that the purpose of the meeting was to
hear invited testimony from Texas Department of Human Services
nursing home surveyors and nursing home administrators about
improving the quality of life for nursing home residents in
Texas.
The chair called invited panelists to provide committee
members with information about improving the quality of life
in Texas nursing homes.

chair recessed the subcommittee on a Survey Regarding Nursing
Facilities at 5:25 p.m., subject to the call of the chair.
