         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Public  
         Information (Interim) was held on Wednesday, April 29, 1998,  
         at the Sheraton Hotel,  in Tyler, Texas.

              The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:10 a.m.  The  
         following business was transacted: 
          
              Chairman Wentworth moved adoption of the minutes from the  
         last meeting.  Without objection, it was so ordered. 
          
              The committee heard invited testimony on SB 1069 (75th  
         Legislative Session) and related matters. 
          
              The committee heard public testimony on the committee  
         charges. 
          
              At 12:35 p.m. the committee recessed for lunch and  
         reconvened at 1:45 p.m. 
          
              Chairman Wentworth resumed public testimony on the  
         committee charges. 
          
              At 2:10 p.m. Chairman Wentworth turned the chair over to  
         Todd Baxter, General Counsel and Chief Clerk of the committee. 
          
              Todd Baxter resumed public testimony on the committee  
         charges. 
          
              There being no further business, at 3:20 p.m., Todd  
         Baxter recessed the committee subject to the call of the  
         Chair.  It was so ordered.
