MINUTES SENATE INTERIM COMMITTEE ON HOUSING Monday, January 12, 1998 1:00 pm San Antonio City Council Chambers ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Interim Committee on Housing was held on Monday, January 12, 1998 in San Antonio City Council Chambers, at San Antonio, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. Senator Florence Shapiro Senator Rodney Ellis Senator Carlos Truan Senator Jeff Wentworth ***** The Chairman called the meeting to order at 1:15 pm. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. The following members arrived after the roll was called: none. Other members of the legislature who participated in the discussions include: Representative Carlos Uriste The Chairman recognized the following witnesses: Peak, Howard, representing the City of San Antonio, gave opening remarks and testified on the interim charge. Garcia, Christina, representing Texas Apartment Association, testified on the interim charge. Flores, Roger, representing the City of San Antonio, testified on the interim charge. Condit, John, representing Texas Apartment Association, testified on the interim charge. Torres, Lupe, representing The Center for Health Care Services, testified on the interim charge. Teran, Frances, representing Texas Association of CDCS/NCLR, testified on the interim charge. Jackson, Cathy, representing Seguin Housing Authority, testified on the interim charge. At 2:30 pm Senator Wentworth assumed the chair. At 2:35 pm Chairman Lucio, Jr. resumed the chair. Anderson, David, representing Greater San Antonio Builders Association, testified on the interim charge. Salmons, John N., representing Greater San Antonio Builders Association, testified on the interim charge. Gutierrez, Robert, representing Armadillo Construction Company, testified on the interim charge. Manley, Larry Paul, representing Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, testified on the interim charge. Lee, William, representing Covenant Communities, testified on the interim charge. Gonzalez, Frances, representing Neighborhood Action Department, testified on the interim charge. Hathaway, Tim, representing San Antonio Housing Trust, testified on the interim charge. A brief discussion followed. The Chairman recognized the following witnesses who registered, but did not testify: Henneberger, John, representing Texas Low Income Housing Information Services. Radle, Rod, representing San Antonio Alternative Housing Corporation. Chairman Lucio closed public testimony. Chairman Lucio announced that the committee will meet in Dallas on February 24, 1998. There being no further business, at 3:35 pm Senator Wentworth moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
