Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Interim Committee on
Housing was held on Thursday, March 19, 1998 at University of
Houston Hilton Hotel, in Houston, Texas.

The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:10 am. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted.

The Chairman recognized the following witnesses:

opening remarks and testified on the interim charge.

Community Development.
Hale, William, representing Texas Commission on Human Rights,
testified on the interim charge.
Howard, Ransom, representing Texas Commission on Human Rights,

Chairman Lucio closed public testimony.
Chairman Lucio announced that the committee will meet in El
Paso on April 24, 1998.
There being no further business, at 11:50 am Senator Shapiro
moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of
the Chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
