      Amend CSHB 1 as follows:
      (1)  In Article III, under the appropriations to the Texas
Education Agency, decrease the amount appropriated for Strategy
D.1.1. (Central Administration) (page III-7) by $1,419,508 in
fiscal year 2000 and by $1,351,892 in fiscal year 2001.
      (2)  In Article III, under the appropriations to the Texas
Education Agency, decrease the amount appropriated for Strategy
D.1.2. (information Resources) (page III-7) by $2,477,555 in fiscal
year 2000 and by $2,614,457 in fiscal year 2001.
      (3)  In Article III, under the appropriation to the Texas
Education Agency, decrease the number of Full-time Equivalent
Position (FTE) (page III-7) by 83 in each fiscal year of the
biennium.
      (4)  In Article III, under the appropriations to the Texas
Education Agency, on page III-17 amend Rider 59 by adding
$3,897,063 in fiscal year 2000 and $3,988,349 in fiscal year 2001
on page III-7, delete Rider #12 and substitute the following:
