Amend the Solomons amendment to CSHB 1 on page 1 of the
amendment, by striking lines 5-10 and substituting the
following: Contingent on the enactment of HB 2123 Acts of the 76th
Legislature, Regular Session, 1999, or similar legislation and on
finding by the comptroller that the temporary exemptions from the
severance tax for oil and gas enacted by SB 290, Acts of the 76th
Legislature, Regular Session, 1999, result in a smaller loss of
revenue than was estimated at the time SB 290 was enacted, the sum
of $16,351,720 is appropriated from the General Revenue fund to the
Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the state fiscal biennium
ending August 31, 2001, for the purpose of implementing the
provisions or the similar legislation.
