      Amend CSHB 1 in Article XI by adding the following
appropriately numbered rider (on page XI-75) after the
appropriations to the Parks and Wildlife Department:
      _____: Battleship Texas: Restoration and Maintenance.
Included in the amounts appropriated above in Strategy A.2.2.
Capital Programs, is $4,952,000 in general revenue funds for
restoration and maintenance projects for the Battleship Texas.  Any
unexpended balance of such appropriations remaining as of August
31, 2000 is appropriated for the same purpose for the fiscal year
beginning September 1, 2000.  The Parks and Wildlife Department
shall provide a biannual progress report to the Legislative Budget
Board on these projects.
      It is the intent of the Legislature that the Parks and
Wildlife Department shall cooperate with agencies and foundations
dedicated to the preservation of the Battleship Texas to identify
and execute projects for this purpose.
