Amend HB 1603 by adding a new appropriately numbered SECTION
to read as follows:
      1.  "SECTION _____.  Chapter 45, Code of Criminal Procedure,
is amended by adding article 45.542 to read as follows:
      Article 45.542.  FLAGRANT OFFENSES:  MANDATORY DRIVER
TRAINING.
      (a)  The court shall, on conviction of, or a plea of nolo
contendere by, a person for an offense described by subsection (b),
order the person to successfully complete a driving safety course,
or, if the violation occurred while the person was operating a
motorcycle, a motorcycle operator training course.
      (b)  Subsection (a) applies upon conviction of, or a plea of
nolo contendere by, a person for:
            (1)  a violation of one of the following provisions of
the Transportation Code:
            (A)  Section 545.066 (passing a school bus)
            (B)  Section 545.401 (reckless driving)
            (C)  Section 545.421 (fleeing or attempting to elude a
police officer)
            (D)  Section 550.022 (accident involving damage to
vehicle); or
            (E)  Section 550.023 (duty to give information and
render aid); or
            (2)  speeding twenty-five miles per hour or more over
the posted speed limit."
