Amend SB 496 by adding the following appropriately numbered
section to the bill and renumbering subsequent sections of the bill
appropriately:
      SECTION ____.  Subchapter A, Chapter 41, Property Code, is
amended by adding Section 41.008 to read as follows:
      Sec. 41.008.  CONFLICT WITH FEDERAL LAW.  To the extent of
any conflict between this subchapter and any federal law that
imposes an upper limit on the amount, including the monetary amount
or acreage amount, of homestead property a person may exempt from
seizure, this subchapter prevails to the extent allowed under
federal law.
