Amend SB 666 by striking SECTION 4 of the bill (Senate
engrossment, page 2, line 26, through page 3, line 8) and
substituting the following:
      SECTION 4. Notwithstanding Section 31.012(c), Human Resources
Code, as amended by this Act:
            (1)  a person receiving financial assistance under
Chapter 31, Human Resources Code, on December 31, 1999, remains
subject to the exemptions from participation in work or employment
activity requirements under Section 31.012(c), Human Resources
Code, as it existed immediately before the effective date of this
Act, until the person's first recertification date for the receipt
of that assistance that occurs on or after January 1, 2000;
            (2)  a person receiving financial assistance under
Chapter 31, Human Resources Code, on August 31, 2000, remains
subject to the exemptions from participation in work or employment
activity requirements under Section 31.012(c), Human Resources
Code, as it exists on January 1, 2000, until the person's first
recertification date for the receipt of that assistance that occurs
on or after September 1, 2000; and
            (3)  a person receiving financial assistance under
Chapter 31, Human Resources Code, on August 31, 2001, remains
subject to the exemptions from participation in work or employment
activity requirements under Section 31.012(c), Human Resources
Code, as it exists on September 1, 2000, until the person's first
recertification date for the receipt of that assistance that occurs
on or after September 1, 2001.
