DIGEST

Under current law, fire fighters and police officers (officers) who have
been suspended and have had the suspension time period reduced by the Fire
Fighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission (commission) are
entitled to full compensation for time lost. However, the law does not
specifically entitle the officer to restoration of, or credit for benefits
such as sick leave, vacation time, and service credit in retirement
systems. H.B. 1078 entitles an officer whose suspension has been reduced by
the commission to the restoration of, or credit for benefits such as sick
leave, vacation time, and service credit in retirement systems.

As proposed, H.B. 1078 entitles an officer whose suspension has been
reduced to the restoration of or credit for benefits such as sick leave,
vacation time, and service credit in retirement systems.
