SRC-PNG H.B. 1082 76(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center H.B. 1082 76R8234 DB-DBy: Bosse (Ellis) Criminal Justice 5/11/1999 Engrossed DIGEST Currently, thousands of juvenile cases are filed each year with the 16 justice courts of Harris County. There has been an informal agreement over the last two years among the three juvenile district courts and the 16 justice courts on how to distribute cases. With the heavy caseload of juvenile criminal cases, it would be more efficient to include a justice of the peace on the Harris County juvenile board. This bill would include a justice of the peace on the Harris County juvenile board, thereby formalizing the relationship between the district courts and the justice courts. PURPOSE As proposed, H.B. 1082 includes a justice of the peace on the Harris County juvenile board, thereby formalizing the relationship between the district courts and the justice courts.
