Committee Report (Amended)

DIGEST

Currently, many Texans celebrate the June 19th reception of the
Emancipation Proclamation in Texas. It is believed that a monument on the
State Capitol grounds would recognize the historical importance of the
event in U.S. and Texas history. This bill would require the site of the
Juneteenth memorial monument to be on State Capitol grounds.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 1368 sets forth the site of the Emancipation Juneteenth
memorial monument.

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
