DIGEST 

Section 152 of the Local Government Code regulates the salary of county
judges.  This bill would require the commissioners court of Dallas County
to set the annual salary of the county judge at an amount that is not less
than $1,000 more than the total annual salary received by a county criminal
court at law judge in the county. 

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 2536 requires the commissioners court of Dallas County to
set the annual salary of the county judge at an amount that is not less
than $1,000 more than the total annual salary received by a county criminal
court at law judge in the county. 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Section 152.904, Local Government Code, by adding
Subsection (f), to require the commissioners court of Dallas County to set
the annual salary of the county judge at an amount that is not less than
$1,000 more than the total annual salary received by a county criminal
court at law judge in the county.  Requires the salary to be paid in 12
equal monthly installments. 

SECTION 2. Makes application of this Act prospective.

SECTION 3. Emergency clause.
  Effective date: upon passage.
