DIGEST

Under current law, the juvenile board of El Paso County is composed of the
county judge, El Paso County's family district court judges and juvenile
court judges, and up to five judges serving on the El Paso Council of
Judges. The Texas Judicial Council proposes that judges from other local
courts having jurisdiction over juveniles should be included on the El Paso
County Juvenile Board in order to permit all of the courts with
jurisdiction over juveniles to work together to address juvenile crime.
H.B. 2724 would add a justice of the peace and a municipal court judge to
the El Paso County Juvenile Board.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 2724 sets forth the composition of the El Paso County
Juvenile Board.

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
