DIGEST

Currently, the jurisdictional maximum for civil cases filed in the Parker
County Court at Law is the sum of $100,000 amount in controversy. An
increase to $500,000 amount in controversy is sought to make Parker County
consistent with other courts at law around the state. This bill would
increase the jurisdictional amount in controversy limit to $500,000, from
$100,000.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 3176 redefines the jurisdiction of the County Court at
Law of Parker County.

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
