DIGEST

Currently, Texas law does not issue a temporary, nonrenewable driver
education license. A driver education instructor must have a teaching
certificate, along with any additional certification. This bill would allow
a driver education instructor who does not meet all the driver education
requirements to teach with a temporary, nonrenewable license.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 81 issues a temporary, nonrenewable driver education
instructor license valid for a six-month period to a driver education
instructor.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
