SRC-JXG S.B. 131 76(R)BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research CenterS.B. 131 By: Nelson Health Services 6/28/1999 Enrolled DIGEST Currently, Texas law requires hospitals and nursing homes to display a sign at each entrance giving notice in both English and Spanish that it is unlawful to carry a handgun on the premises. S.B. 131 will exempt hospitals and nursing homes from including the number "51" on the sign. PURPOSE As enrolled, S.B. 131 exempts hospitals and nursing homes from displaying a sign in each entrance with the number "51" on its face. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 411.2024(b), Government Code, to require hospitals or nursing homes to prominently display a sign in each entrance to the hospital or nursing home with the number "51" on its face. SECTION 2. Emergency clause. Effective date: upon passage.
