DIGEST 

Currently, Fort Bend County is served by three county courts-at-law.  Both
population growth and increased caseloads have put a strain on the current
courts.  S.B. 135  would create an additional county court-at-law in Fort
Bend County. 

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 135 creates a county court-at-law in Fort Bend County.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 25.0811, Government Code, to establish the
County Court at Law No. 4 of Fort Bend County.  Makes a conforming change. 

SECTION 2.  Creates County Court at Law No. 4 of Fort Bend County. 
            Effective date: September 1, 1999.

SECTION 3.  Emergency clause.
