SRC-AXB S.B. 179 76(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 179 76R1160 JMC-DBy: Shapiro Intergovernmental Relations 2/9/1999 As Filed DIGEST As the population of Collin County increases and ages, the need increases for a Statutory Probate Court which specializes in mental health and probate matters. This bill would redesignate County Court at Law No. 1 of Collin County as Probate Court of Collin County. PURPOSE As proposed, S.B. 179 redesignates County Court at Law No. 1 of Collin County as Probate Court of Collin County. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 25.0451, Government Code, to create the Probate Court of Collin County, and remove the County Court at Law No. 1 of Collin County. Makes conforming changes. SECTION 2. Redesignates the County Court at Law No. 1 of Collin County as the Probate Court of Collin County, and provides that the judge of the former court is the judge of the new court. SECTION 3. Effective date: September 1, 1999. SECTION 4. Emergency clause.
