SRC-JXG S.B. 214 76(R)BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research CenterS.B. 214 By: Duncan Intergovernmental Relations 6/28/1999 Enrolled DIGEST Currently, under S.B. 1108, 75th Legislature, the Joint Airport Zoning Board received a two-year extension on its land use of Reese Air Force Base and its surrounding area. S.B. 214 will extend the land use of Reese Air Force Base and its surrounding area an additional two years, giving the local authority more time to attract economic development. PURPOSE As enrolled, S.B. 214 authorizes an airport closed by the federal government to continue zoning regulations in effect until the fourth, rather than second, anniversary of the date the airport closed. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 241.014(e), Local Government Code, to authorize the joint airport zoning board for an airport closed by the federal government to continue zoning regulations in effect until the fourth, rather than the second, anniversary of the date the airport closed. SECTION 2. Emergency clause. Effective date: upon passage.
