DIGEST

Currently, Texas law requires the board of trustees of a public school
district to publish an annual report describing the educational performance
of the district and of each campus that also includes uniform student
performance and certain descriptive information. The report does not
include information regarding the performance of recent graduates from the
school district who are attending institutions of higher education. This
bill would include, in the annual report to each school district,
information relating to the academic performance of high school graduates
in institutions of higher education, so that school districts are better
able to evaluate how successful their individual high schools are at
preparing students for college.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 225 establishes certain conditions for measuring and
reporting the academic performance of public high school graduates in
institutions of higher education.

Rulemaking authority is granted to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board in SECTION 2 (Section 51.946(a), Education Code) of this bill.
