DIGEST

Currently, the Texas Workforce Commission, a new agency still developing
its policies and procedures, is not required to prepare and file a budget
report. A quarterly report enables the legislature to properly evaluate
the effectiveness of programs and management strategies. This bill would
require the Texas Workforce Commission to prepare a quarterly budget
report.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 228 requires the Texas Workforce Commission to prepare a
budget report, and sets forth the required contents of the budget report.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
