SRC-AXB S.B. 309 76(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 309 763959 PAM-DBy: Nixon State Affairs 2/21/1999 As Filed DIGEST Currently, there is no limitation on buildings used as a polling place for certain elections regarding their connection to the issues to be voted on. Sometimes, election locations are "strategically placed" - for example, an election to approve bonds for a new school gymnasium can be held in the old gymnasium, so while people are voting, they can observe the current condition of the facility. This bill will prohibit certain kinds of elections from being held in a building that is affected by the result of the election. PURPOSE As proposed, S.B. 309 prohibits certain kinds of elections from being held in a building that is affected by the result of the election.
