DIGEST
Currently, Texas law prohibits the commissioners court of a county from
providing a county employee with a lump-sum payment for the purpose of
recruitment, retention, or for rewarding performance. This bill would
allow the county commissioners court, in an order setting the amount of
compensation, to provide a lump-sum payment that is not part of a base
salary for the purpose of recruitment, retention, or for rewarding
performance.
PURPOSE
As proposed, S.B. 336 establishes certain lump-sum payments that are part
of a county employee's compensation.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
