DIGEST 

Currently, there is a designated La Entrada al Pacifico trade route.  This
bill clarifies and specifies the existing boundaries of the La Entrada al
Pacifico Corridor and the Sergeant Joe Parks, Jr. Memorial Highway. 

PURPOSE

As enrolled, S.B. 682 clarifies and specifies the roadways which compose La
Entrada al Pacifico Corridor and the Sergeant Joe Parks, Jr. Memorial
Highway. 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 225.034, Transportation Code, to redesignate it
as Section 225.040, and to amend it as follows: 

Sec.  225.040.  LA ENTRADA AL PACIFICO CORRIDOR.  Provides that certain
highways and any portion of a highway within certain boundaries are
designated as La Entrada al Pacifico Corridor, rather than the future route
of the corridor.  Clarifies and specifies the highways which compose La
Entrada al Pacifico Corridor.  Redesignates Section 225.034 as Section
225.040. Makes nonsubstantive and conforming changes. 

SECTION 2.  Amends Chapter 225B, Transportation Code, by adding Section
225.045, as follows: 

Sec.  225.045.  SERGEANT JOE PARKS, JR. MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.  Provides that
Farm-to-Market Road 457, from mile marker #648 to #677, located in the
County of Matagorda, is now named Sergeant Joe Parks, Jr. Memorial Highway. 

SECTION 3.  Effective date:  September 1, 1999.

SECTION 4.  Emergency clause.
