SRC-JJJ S.B. 920 76(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 920 76R5349 CMR-DBy: Wentworth Jurisprudence 3/29/1999 As Filed DIGEST Currently, Texas law allows for a $3 monthly fee to be paid by a managing conservator and possessory conservator for whom the domestic relations office acts as a local child support registry. S.B. 920 would establish the collection of child support service filing fees by a domestic relations office. PURPOSE As proposed, S.B. 920 authorizes the collection of child support services fee by a domestic relations office. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 203.005(a), Family Code, to authorize the administering entity to authorize a domestic relations office to assess and collect in a county that has a cooperative agreement with the Title IV-D agency, an initial child support service fee not to exceed $36 to be paid to a domestic relations office on the filing of a suit. Makes conforming changes. SECTION 2. Amends Section 110.006, Family Code, as follows: Sec. 110.006. New heading: DOMESTIC RELATIONS OFFICE FEE. Makes conforming changes. SECTION 3. Effective date: September 1, 1999. SECTION 4. Emergency clause.
