SRC-JJJ S.B. 1005 76(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 1005 By: Wentworth Jurisprudence 3/18/1999 As Filed DIGEST Currently, because of a conflict between various appellate courts regarding the jurisdiction of statutory probate courts, there is need for legislative clarification of the jurisdictional grant given to statutory probate courts. S.B. 1005 would establish the jurisdiction of a statutory probate court in certain matters relating to decedents' estates. PURPOSE As proposed, S.B. 1005 establishes the jurisdiction of a statutory probate court in certain matters relating to decedents' estates. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 5A(b), Texas Probate Code, to delete text regarding certain conditions relating to the purposes of this section. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 1999.
