DIGEST

Currently, the Texas Board of Pharmacy (board) is authorized to license
community pharmacies, nuclear pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, or other
licensed inpatient facilities and clinics. The board needs authority to
establish other classes of pharmacies when needed to protect the health,
safety, and welfare of Texan citizens, given the rapid changes in
technology and continual changes in the healthcare service delivery system.
S.B. 1086 would set forth provisions authorizing the creation of a new
class of pharmacy.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 1086 sets forth provisions authorizing the creation of a
new class of pharmacy.
