This bill would allow the DPS to recover the cost of publishing the handbooks. PURPOSE As proposed, S.B. 1169 authorizes the Department of Public Safety to sell advertising in any driver's handbook that it publishes. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Chapter 521A, Transportation Code, by adding Section 521.006, as follows: Sec. 521.006. ADVERTISING IN DRIVER'S HANDBOOK. Authorizes the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to sell advertising in any driver's handbook that the DPS publishes. Effective date: 90 days after adjournment.
