SRC-DPW S.B. 1180 76(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 1180 By: Harris Criminal Justice 4/13/1999 As Filed DIGEST Currently, a provision of the Bail Bonds Act requires reports to be filed annually with the Texas Judicial Council. It is reported that the content of these reports appear to be grossly inaccurate for use by most counties, and there is no evidence that these reports have been used as a basis of an accurate evaluation of the bail bond industry in Texas. This bill would repeal Section 5(f)(8), Article 2372p-3, V.T.C.S. (County Bail Bond Board). PURPOSE As proposed, S.B. 1180 repeals a provision regarding County Bail Bond Boards. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Repealer: Section 5(f)(8), Article 2372p-3, V.T.C.S. (County Bail Bond Board). SECTION 2.Emergency clause. Effective date: upon passage.
