DIGEST

Currently, retired or former judges or justices who serve on a district
court assignment receive 85 percent of the regular judge's salary, pro
rata.  The presiding judges have not received a salary increase since 1991;
their workload, however, has increased during the past eight years. S.B.
1229 will raise the amount of compensation received by the presiding judge
of an administrative judicial region.

PURPOSE

As enrolled, S.B. 1229 increases the compensation of presiding judges of
administrative judicial regions.

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
