DIGEST

Currently, certain Texas counties do not have statutory authority to
require food training for management personnel. However, some large home
rule cities may already require proper food training through city
ordinances. S.B. 1477 would allow counties with a population of 2.8 million
or more to require a trained food manager to be on duty during operating
hours of a food service establishment.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 1477 allows counties with a population of 2.8 million or
more to require a trained food manager to be on duty during operating hours
of a food service establishment.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.

package food from being required to have a certified food manager under
this section.
