SRC-JJJ S.B. 1558 76(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 1558 76R4200 GWK-DBy: Nelson Criminal Justice 4/12/1999 As Filed DIGEST Currently, Texas law regarding trespassing is applied only to real property or buildings, and not to boats, aircraft or motor-propelled vehicles. Thus, airport security has been unable to use the trespass statute to deal with passengers who violate certain conditions. S.B. 1558 would establish the offense of trespassing on an aircraft. PURPOSE As proposed, S.B. 1558 establishes the offense of trespassing on an aircraft. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 1999. SECTION 3. Emergency clause.
