DIGEST

Currently, the majority of rules and procedures of the University
Interscholastic League (UIL) are derived from input from superintendents
and principals or state level committees on a ballot basis and are subject
to modification by the State Board of Education (board). This bill would
prevent the board from modifying rules and procedures of the UIL.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 1671 revises time periods of suspension from
extracurricular activities sponsored or sanctioned by a school district or
the University Interscholastic League.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.
