DIGEST

Currently, a school district or county may apply for approval of the
commissioner of education to receive an additional amount of funds for a
transportation allotment to be used for the transportation of children
living within two miles of the school they attended who would be subjected
to "hazardous traffic conditions" if they walked to school. S.B. 1722 would
amend the requirement for "hazardous traffic conditions."

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.B. 1722 regulates school district transportation allotments.
