Committee Report (Amended)

DIGEST

This year the federal government officially and legally identified the past
struggle in Korea as the Korean War. Many Americans sacrificed their lives
in this war to prevent the spread of communism. Yet, the Korean War suffers
from being viewed as merely a conflict, and its veterans merely Korean War
participants. Currently, Korean War veterans are mounting an information
program to educate the public about the action of American men and women in
Korea, which was not simply a conflict-but a war. Further, they are
attempting to educate the populace that these courageous soldiers should be
recognized as veterans deserving of the highest regard for the many
sacrifices they made for freedom. This legislation supports the efforts of
the Texas Lone Star Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association in its
public education efforts regarding the Korean War.

PURPOSE

As proposed, S.C.R. 34 submits the following resolution:

That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby respectfully support
the Texas Lone Star Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association in its
public education efforts regarding the Korean War.

SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE CHANGES

Concurrent Resolution.

Provides that the Texas Lone Star Chapter of the Korean War Veterans
Assocation, rather than organization, supports the issue of education
efforts concerning the Korean War, and is supported by the 76th Legislature
of the State of Texas.
