SRC-AXB S.C.R. 38 76(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.C.R. 38 76R8110 SMZ-DBy: Shapleigh Veterans Affairs 4/8/1999 As Filed DIGEST Currently, the McGregor Range is the nation's principal training facility for air defense systems, and is crucial to the development and testing of missile defense systems. McGregor Range is a large tract of federally-owned land within Fort Bliss and is scheduled to be returned to public use after November 6, 2001. S.C.R. 38 expresses the 76th Legislature's support for the continued use of McGregor Range for military purposes. PURPOSE As proposed, S.C.R. 38 submits the following resolutions: That the 76th Legislature of Texas support the United States Congress in ensuring the military's use of the McGregor Range land beyond 2001. That the secretary of state forward an official copy of this resolution to the President of the United States, the speaker of the house of representatives and the president of the senate of the United States Congress, and all members of the Texas delegation in congress with the request that this resolution be entered in the Congressional Record as a memorial to the Congress of the United States of America.
