No. 699 76R2590 WP-D A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to warning visitors to Mexico of Mexican laws prohibiting 1-3 transportation of firearms and ammunition. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Subchapter K, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, 1-6 is amended by adding Section 201.907 to read as follows: 1-7 Sec. 201.907. BORDER CROSSING WARNING SIGNS. The department 1-8 shall post and maintain signs at crossings of the border between 1-9 this state and Mexico providing notice of Mexico's law prohibiting 1-10 transportation of firearms and ammunition. The signs shall be 1-11 designed by the department and shall contain information the 1-12 department determines necessary to provide adequate warning to 1-13 visitors of Mexico, including any penalties Mexican law may 1-14 prescribe for an offense. 1-15 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999. 1-16 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-17 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-18 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-19 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-20 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
