A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the services included in home health care services.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Section 142.001(12), Health and Safety Code, is
1-5 amended to read as follows:
1-6 (12) "Home health service" means the provision of one
1-7 or more of the following health services required by an individual
1-8 in a residence or independent living environment:
1-9 (A) nursing;
1-10 (B) physical, occupational, speech, or
1-11 respiratory therapy;
1-12 (C) medical social service;
1-13 (D) intravenous therapy;
1-14 (E) dialysis;
1-15 (F) service provided by unlicensed personnel
1-16 under the delegation of a licensed health professional;
1-17 (G) the furnishing of medical equipment and
1-18 supplies, excluding drugs and medicines; [or]
1-19 (H) nutritional counseling;
1-20 (I) blood pressure monitoring;
1-21 (J) diabetes treatment; or
1-22 (K) minimal house cleaning.
1-23 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999.
1-24 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
2-1 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
2-2 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-3 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-4 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
