                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the filing of an application for a place on the general
 1-3 primary election ballot.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 172.022(b), Election Code, is amended to
 1-6 read as follows:
1-7 (b) Not later than the day before the last day of the filing
1-8 period, the county chair shall post on the bulletin board used for
1-9 posting notice of meetings of the commissioners court a notice of
1-10 the address at which the county chair or secretary will be
1-11 available to receive applications on the last day of the filing
1-12 period. If both the county chair and the secretary will be
1-13 available, the notice must contain the address at which each will
1-14 be available. Section 1.006 does not apply to this subsection.
1-15 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999.
1-16 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-17 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-18 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-19 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-20 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
