No. 833 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House April 9, 1999; 1-3 April 12, 1999, read first time and referred to Committee on State 1-4 Affairs; April 30, 1999, reported favorably by the following vote: 1-5 Yeas 8, Nays 0; April 30, 1999, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to the filing of an application for a place on the general 1-9 primary election ballot. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Section 172.022(b), Election Code, is amended to 1-12 read as follows: 1-13 (b) Not later than the day before the last day of the filing 1-14 period, the county chair shall post on the bulletin board used for 1-15 posting notice of meetings of the commissioners court a notice of 1-16 the address at which the county chair or secretary will be 1-17 available to receive applications on the last day of the filing 1-18 period. If both the county chair and the secretary will be 1-19 available, the notice must contain the address at which each will 1-20 be available. Section 1.006 does not apply to this subsection. 1-21 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999. 1-22 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-23 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-24 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-25 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-26 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended. 1-27 * * * * *
