By West H.B. No. 1004 76R4529 DLF-D A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to affixing the seal of a notary public. 1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-4 SECTION 1. Section 406.013, Government Code, is amended by 1-5 adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: 1-6 (d) Each time a notary public affixes the seal to a 1-7 document, the notary public shall clearly print or stamp the 1-8 mailing address and telephone number of the notary public on the 1-9 document, as near as possible to the place at which the seal is 1-10 affixed. The failure of a notary public to comply with this 1-11 subsection does not affect the validity of the notarization. 1-12 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999. 1-13 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-14 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-15 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-16 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-17 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
