1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the filing of sworn statements prescribed by the
 1-3     constitution for public office and made by the directors of certain
 1-4     special districts.
 1-5           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-6           SECTION 1.  Section 36.055(d), Water Code, is amended to read
 1-7     as follows:
 1-8           (d)  The sworn statement shall be filed as prescribed by the
 1-9     constitution.  The[,] bond[,] and oath shall be filed with the
1-10     district and retained in its records.  A duplicate original of the
1-11     [sworn statement and the] oath shall also be filed with the
1-12     secretary of state within 10 days after its [their] execution and
1-13     need not be filed before the new director begins to perform the
1-14     duties of office.
1-15           SECTION 2.  Section 49.055(d), Water Code, is amended to read
1-16     as follows:
1-17           (d)  The sworn statement shall be filed as prescribed by the
1-18     constitution.  The[,] bond[,] and oath shall be filed with the
1-19     district and retained in its records.  A duplicate original of the
1-20     [sworn statement and the] oath shall also be filed with the
1-21     secretary of state within 10 days after its [their] execution and
1-22     need not be filed before the new director begins to perform the
1-23     duties of office.
1-24           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
 2-1     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
 2-2     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
 2-3     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
 2-4     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
 2-5     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
 2-6     passage, and it is so enacted.
