                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to computation of annuities for members of the elected
 1-3     class of the Employees Retirement System of Texas.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 814.103(a), Government Code, is amended
 1-6     to read as follows:
 1-7           (a)  Except as provided by Subsection (b), the standard
 1-8     service retirement annuity for service credited in the elected
 1-9     class of membership is an amount equal to the number of years of
1-10     service credit in that class, times 2.25 [two] percent of $101,700
1-11     [the state salary, as adjusted from time to time, being paid a
1-12     district judge].
1-13           SECTION 2.  In enacting this legislation, the legislature
1-14     intends to freeze annuities for annuitants of the elected class of
1-15     the Employees Retirement System of Texas at the rate being paid at
1-16     the time the legislation is enacted.
1-17           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-18     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-19     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-20     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-21     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-22     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-23     passage, and it is so enacted.
