1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to reports related to certain offices within the Texas
 1-3     Department of Economic Development.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 481.0067(f), Government Code, is amended
 1-6     to read as follows:
 1-7           (f)  Not later than October 15 [September 1] of each
 1-8     even-numbered year, the department shall submit to the governor and
 1-9     the legislature a report containing specific information regarding
1-10     each of the functions performed by the Office of Rural Affairs,
1-11     including recommendations regarding issues that affect the rural
1-12     areas of the state.
1-13           SECTION 2.  Section 481.0068(e), Government Code, is amended
1-14     to read as follows:
1-15           (e)  Not later than October 15 [September 1] of each
1-16     even-numbered year, the department shall submit to the governor and
1-17     the legislature a report containing specific information regarding
1-18     each of the functions performed by the Office of Small Business
1-19     Assistance, including recommendations regarding issues that affect
1-20     small businesses of the state.
1-21           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-22     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-23     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-24     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
 2-1     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
 2-2     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
 2-3     passage, and it is so enacted.
