 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-7                                   AN ACT
 1-8     relating to reports related to certain offices within the Texas
 1-9     Department of Economic Development.
1-10           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11           SECTION 1.  Section 481.0067(f), Government Code, is amended
1-12     to read as follows:
1-13           (f)  Not later than October 15 [September 1] of each
1-14     even-numbered year, the department shall submit to the governor and
1-15     the legislature a report containing specific information regarding
1-16     each of the functions performed by the Office of Rural Affairs,
1-17     including recommendations regarding issues that affect the rural
1-18     areas of the state.
1-19           SECTION 2.  Section 481.0068(e), Government Code, is amended
1-20     to read as follows:
1-21           (e)  Not later than October 15 [September 1] of each
1-22     even-numbered year, the department shall submit to the governor and
1-23     the legislature a report containing specific information regarding
1-24     each of the functions performed by the Office of Small Business
1-25     Assistance, including recommendations regarding issues that affect
1-26     small businesses of the state.
1-27           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-28     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-29     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-30     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-31     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-32     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-33     passage, and it is so enacted.
