1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the ability of tenant representatives to serve a
1-3 certain number of consecutive terms as commissioners of local
1-4 housing authorities.
1-5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-6 SECTION 1. Section 392.0331(f), Local Government Code, is
1-7 amended to read as follows:
1-8 (f) A commissioner appointed under this section may not
1-9 serve more than two [be reappointed to] consecutive two-year terms.
1-10 SECTION 2. Section 392.0331(f), Local Government Code, as
1-11 amended by this Act, applies to a commissioner appointed under
1-12 Section 392.0331, Local Government Code, without regard to whether
1-13 the commissioner was appointed on, before, or after the effective
1-14 date of this Act.
1-15 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-16 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-17 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-18 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-19 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-20 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-21 passage, and it is so enacted.
