                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to credit in the Texas County and District Retirement
 1-3     System for military service.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Subchapter G, Chapter 843, Government Code, is
 1-6     amended by adding Section 843.6011 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 843.6011.  EXPANDED CURRENT SERVICE FOR MILITARY DUTY.
 1-8     (a)  The governing body of a participating subdivision that has
 1-9     authorized the establishment of credit for military service under
1-10     Section 843.601 may by further order:
1-11                 (1)  authorize current service credit for service as a
1-12     member of the Texas National Guard or service in any of the reserve
1-13     components of the armed forces of the United States; or
1-14                 (2)  authorize current service credit to be established
1-15     for military service by a member who receives or is eligible to
1-16     receive federal retirement payments based on 20 years or more of
1-17     active federal military duty or its equivalent.
1-18           (b)  Authorized service described by Subsection (a)(1) is
1-19     creditable at the rate of one month of service credit for each 12
1-20     months of military service.
1-21           (c)  Credit authorized under this section may be established
1-22     in the manner provided by Sections 843.601(e) and (f) and is
1-23     subject to the limitations provided by Sections 843.601(g) and (h).
1-24           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
 2-1     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
 2-2     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
 2-3     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
 2-4     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
 2-5     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
 2-6     passage, and it is so enacted.
